Khenefrian aircraft recently tried to strike at the bridge over the Limpoko River in Duloc. Border tensions have simmered between the two counties after Duloc attacked and killed bandits hiding across the border with Me-262 fighter bombers. This led to retaliation when Khenefrian F-100 attacked and destroyed a passenger train in Duloc killing over fifty civilians. Not satisfied with this the Khenefrians have tried again. As the Khenefrian air force failed to keep their four F-100s serviceable they turned to China for support. The CCP supplied J-7s and J6 fighters and fighter bombers and also supplied the technical support to keep the planes in the air. Indeed some of the pilots that took part in the raid may have been Chinese instructors. Luckily for Duloc two Pihkálander Skyhawks were training with two Duloc flown Drakens in the area. These air craft intercepted the raid and The Lieutenant Golmoko from the KP air force shot down two enemy fighter bombers. The now ace Capt...
We had our version of Little Wars yesterday.
ReplyDeleteMike Fly Gołdyn (and Cameron Dickson) created a game based on the movie "The Wild Geese". For this we used Wars of Insurgency rules with a few homegrown modifications - mostly to the Officer and NCO Wild Geese, to make them more 'survivable/invincible'.
We played 2 games, over the course of the day.
As it was a mostly public participation styled game, we needed members of the gaming public ..... to participate.
Due to a variety of time constraint factors, most beyond our control, the actual game had not been run since its conception.
Therefore, game 1 turned into the real, playtest game, with the 'public participants' being provided by the helpers.
Game 1 was short, sharp and bloody!
The Wild Geese were decimated, almost at every stage. The Simbas did most of the damage "down by the river".
Game 2 had some REAL public participants.
This time the Wild Geese made it past the river, through Kimbali, the abandoned village and onto the airstrip.
Along the way, Alan Faulkner (the Wild Geese leader) was killed.
It all came down to who could get on the Dakota and away.
As you would expect, the Simbas through everything they could at the Wild Geese and there were many casualties on both sides - much frantic dice rolling!!
At the end of the game A number of the Wild Geese, President Limbani (totally uninjured!) and a couple of village women (don't ask??) were on the plane as it flew out.
Game over, victory to the Wild Geese.
