Forces loyal to the Sahaeloen
Brigadier Arlwash Yadeeshas have valiantly fought for the town of Tairi
against a large force of foreign mercenaries. The mercenaries are
believed to have come from UmBongo, although this is yet to be
confirmed.
A reporter attached to Brigadier Arlwash's headquarters described the action:
“At 0635 (local time), the first mercenary armoured vehicle entered the western outskirts of Tairi, with it an attachment of heavily armed troops. Unbeknown to the defenders, a similar group was attacking and entering the town from the north. The 2 armoured groups met near the western boundary of the Sahaelo army compound.
The Sahaeloen army troops desperately attempted to get out of their compound and respond to the invaders. The heavy fire from the mercenary's armoured vehicles took a toll on the defenders and their vehicles.
A mortar placed on a nearby hill by the mercenaries also took a toll on the defenders, when it scored a direct hit on the main building.
Once they had an opportunity to come to grips with the invaders, the brave Sahaeloen troops more than held their own and took a severe toll on the mercenaries.
Very soon the superior numbers of the mercenaries began to tell and irrespective of their own personal valour, the Sahaeloen troops were ordered to withdraw from the town.
Soon after the withdrawal of the army troops, according to townsfolk from Tairi, some helicopters landed and more mercenaries emerged. At the same time, a number of heavily-armed attack helicopters flew over."
There has been no response from the UmBongo government regarding their country's alleged involvement in this action.
